Your Daily is a personal coaching app for women living with autoimmune conditions, helping them build small, yet meaningful daily habits to heal the nervous system. With a wide variety of tools and resources, Your Daily helps women learn about and cope with their conditions, so that they feel empowered and more cognisant about how their lifestyle choices affect them. Throughout the duration of this project, we worked closely with both Your Daily's founder and developer. We also collaborated with another team working on a different version of the app.

Through extensive research, ideation, prototyping, and testing, my team and I designed a "future" concept of Your Daily that is easier to navigate, incorporates new features, and provides a more personalized experience.
project goals
Implement new features
— Our client communicated several features they wanted to implement in Your Daily such as a community portals, workshops, and personalization elements.

Refine the organization & structure of information
— Users had difficulty finding tools or information they needed due to nesting.

Improve user retention
— The current app does not feel personalized and lacks motivation for the user.
PROCESS
the challenge
Reimagining the architecture of Your Daily's content to seamlessly incorporate new features, make navigation more intuitive, and increase user retention.

the current app:
interviews
Users want to be able to reflect, see their progression, learn more about their autoimmune condition(s), and feel supported by a community.

In collaboration with another team working with Your Daily, we conducted 9 interviews to help better understand who our target users are. We prioritized finding participants who identify as:
— a woman living with an autoimmune condition(s)
— a woman who cares about personal health and self-care
— someone currently using/has used a health and wellness app
— current user of Your Daily

market analysis
Features such as mood tracking, journaling, and community were consistent in majority of the health and wellness apps we analyzed.

To gain insight on what features and services that users needed and/or wanted, we took a look at 11 different health and wellness apps from competitors. Most of these were not centered around autoimmune conditions, but geared more towards general health and wellness.

PERSONAS
redefining our target user
Our client initially targeted busy working women, specifically C-suite executives in their 30s to 40s, living in bustling metropolitan areas. This created conflict with the goals we discussed and set for Your Daily.

With this very limited target audience, it was difficult for Your Daily to appeal to the younger demographic, as well as be accessible to a wide range of users. Using insights from our research, we crafted two personas that better align with Your Daily's business goals and project goals.
Margaret is a 42 year-old single mother living with hyperthyroidism. With her busy schedule, she finds it challenging to manage her autoimmune condition and balance the demands of her work and home life.

Margaret needs a way to connect with a community of like-minded women and manage daily stresses and anxieties, because she wants to feel supported and prioritize self-care.
Gianna is a 24 year-old barista living with vitiligo. She often finds social situations at work difficult to handle because of her condition. Gianna is hoping to find resources that can help her manage the mental and emotional aspects of her condition and ultimately, improve her overall quality of life.

Gianna, who struggles with low self-esteem due to vitiligo, needs a way to express her daily emotions and prioritize her mental health, so that she can improve her overall well-being.
IDEATION
low-fidelity exploration
Our client expressed that one of their biggest challenges was finding a balance between visual simplicity and inclusivity of content.

home screen
— Since the home screen is the first page users see when they open the app, our client emphasized the importance of keeping the interface as simple as possible. We each designed a different home screen option and presented each concept at the next meeting. Our final design reflects this combination of ideas.

implementation
After the project was concluded, Shawna and the rest of the Your Daily team messaged us with updates on the current app. They've started to implement some of the features our team had designed including the home screen toggle, the ability to edit daily habits, and aspects of our mood check-in.
